Somehow a hemp jewelry artist named Dave got my number and begged me to sell him a boat to live on. He explained to me that he has problems managing money and asked if he could make payments by the day. He gave me 2 $60 payments and I told him I would sell him a sailboat for $1000. I gave Kevin in Oxnard $100 down for this Columbia 22 and we bought her for $500. She came with a good running outboard, a solar panel and a bunch of good gear. Dave paid me off and put her in the water. He was too cheap to pay me to help him deliver the boat. I told him to leave at 7:00am but he left after noon. About 7:00 pm he called me and had gone about 20 miles. He was down around La Conchita. I told him he would not make it to Santa Barbara before dark and to anchor. He didn't listen and could not see the land in the dark. He wound up running a ground at the Tarpits. We were almost able to get the boat off the beach the next day, but we failed. The the city of Carpinteris paid Lynn to come get her off the beach and take her to the dump.
